THE WARM-UP

The forecast at Sugar House Park says 83 and sunny today, then 83 again Friday. Halloween is twenty-three days away.

The coldest number on the forecast is tonight's 59, and the canyon station up Little Cottonwood read the same thing this morning. October is taking its time.

PR OF THE WEEK

PR BOARD

Curbside Theater turns Millcreek Common into a circus

The plaza at Millcreek Common gets a free hour of dance, theater, live music and circus Friday at 7pm from Curbside Theater. No ticket, but only 80 seats, first come.

Circus holds a small kid's attention, and an open plaza with music is the easiest place on the bench to stand near strangers. Of everything in this issue, it is the one I would build a Friday night around.

The forecast for Friday night is 62 and mostly cloudy. The Millcreek Farmers Market runs until 9 that night, so you can do both. Arrive early if you want to see over anybody.

SR 71 paving. Paving runs nightly on SR 71, moving from 1700 South to 400 South and back, and also in the stretch the notice calls the "race-track". The notice put the start at August 26 and the length at about three weeks. It is planned through Friday, October 30.

Three Locals: places that teach kids something

Goldfish Swim School on 3300 South teaches kids to swim.
Dance Box Studio on Holladay Blvd East runs dance classes for kids.
Pit SLC on Highland Drive is a sports school for kids.

Three places on the bench, picked off the map. Nobody paid for this and we are not vouching for anyone. Know a better one? Reply and name it.

STRAIGHT FROM THE CANYON'S MOUTH

As of 11:03 this morning, Big Cottonwood Canyon and Little Cottonwood were dry from the mouth up, with no restrictions. The Guardsman Pass seasonal gate was open. Canyon stations read 64 F in Big Cottonwood and 59 F in Little Cottonwood.

Parleys and the I-215 east belt were dry too. The National Weather Service had no active alerts for Sugar House Park or Brighton at 11:14. AirNow put the Salt Lake City area at AQI 64, Moderate, from PM2.5, at 11am.

THE COOL-DOWN

Three markets made it in this week. I would take the NHMU one, because buying the pottery from the person who made it beats any other way of getting pottery.

The forecast still says 83 for Friday. Plan the costume accordingly. That is Set #6.

ON THE SITE  BETWEEN SETS

We picked 6 of the 92 things on the east bench this week. The other 86 are on the calendar, unjudged.
